How to Eliminate Social Phobias and Build Self Confidence
Self confidence is a mental and emotional mindset which responds to a person's need for self-acceptance and recognition.
It's one of the oldest and most discussed concepts in psychology.
It describes a good but also adequate perception of oneself and one's abilities. As such, self-confident individuals generally have a better idea of the things they can do and will be more apt to be successful in their projects.
They are able to more easily accept and understand and learn from their mistakes.
A lack of confidence may deter you from believing your actions or decisions will later work out the way you had wanted.
It can thus interfere with the improvement of decision-making skills, strategic and management strength all of which are fundamental and sought-after skills in the business world of today.
The pre-occupation with how others will judge your work can also cause you to become extremely self-critical, which is something that will distract you from things you would have otherwise been perfectly able to do.
Out of your comfort zone
Low self confidence will also have an impact your social life, as people with a low level of self confidence tend to stay in their "comfort zone" and fear the risk of being rejected.
This is called social phobia and has a high degree of co-morbidity with low self confidence, as well as other mental conditions like depression.
People with low self confidence are scared of the judgment of their peers and will avoid talking to new people, which can consequently lead to isolation and even less self confidence.
Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that is hard to break. Really?
To the contrary, because they believe in their own abilities, self-confident individuals can do what they feel is appropriate and do not expect the approval of other people.
They also trigger confidence: your friends, relatives, boss, employees or customers are more likely to trust you or the things you are telling them if you appear self-confident.
A lot experiences can contribute to low self confidence.
Recent research indicates that parenting style has a critical impact on the development of the self confidence of a child.
Physical and mental abuses in childhood are for example the worse for somebody's self confidence, along with divorce and family conflicts.
Overprotective parents may also be a reason for a child's social phobia and hamper the independence mandatory to develop self confidence.
Successes and failures, for example at school or in one's professional life, also play a major role: losing a job or failing a class are some of the numerous experiences that will negatively affect your self confidence.
Overcoming Bad Experiences
It is however possible to overcome such bad experiences and build confidence.
The first step to develop self confidence is to learn to know yourself and what your strengths are.
Admitting the fact that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be good in everything you do will help you build self confidence.
Accepting who you are is the key to building self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments.
This is very basic advice that will help you build self confidence. You might also find a lot of books that will tell you how to gain self confidence, however not all of them are reliable.
Use NLP & Hypnosis to Achieve Self Confidence
A great number of people have low self confidence or are only capable of gaining self confidence in one or a certain number of areas of their lives because they always try to get other people's approval and are afraid that they could fail.
A lot of factors, such as childhood traumas, can explain why certain people cannot have the wholesome life of a self confident individual.
Those individuals also do not always know how to gain self confidence. But gaining self confidence can now easily and effectively be achieved thanks to hypnosis and NLP.
Face Your Fears - Then Eliminate Them!
As we have seen low self confidence and social phobia can be caused by bad experiences or unconscious fears which can be hard to overcome through self persuasion only.
Confidence hypnosis and NLP by contrast can get to the unconscious part of the brain and change belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you face your fears and believe in yourself to develop self confidence.
Hypnosis for building confidence has been used for a few decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotic state, accessing unconscious thoughts is much easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to build self confidence.
